Aurora Ukulele Festival: Celebrating the Joy of the Ukulele

The Aurora Ukulele Festival has established itself as a vibrant celebration of one of music's most accessible and joyful instruments. Now in its 9th year, the festival continues the mission to bring ukulele music to the western suburbs of Chicago. The 2026 edition marks a significant evolution for the event, moving indoors to the Two Brothers Roundhouse in downtown Aurora while maintaining its commitment to community, music, and cultural celebration.

The ukulele has experienced a remarkable resurgence in popularity over the past two decades. The festival features performances from diverse ukulele artists and ensembles, including returning favorites like the Hix Bros Ukulele Band, The Ukulele Kings, and emerging performers such as Lisa, The Ukulele Fool. The 2026 lineup also includes Hoapilli with Hula 'O Puanani, adding cultural diversity and traditional Hawaiian influences to the musical program.

Beyond performances, the festival provides educational opportunities through workshops and demonstrations, allowing attendees to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the instrument. The indoor venue at Two Brothers Roundhouse ensures the festival can proceed regardless of weather while providing a controlled environment for performances and vendor activities. Multiple stages and performance areas allow simultaneous programming throughout the two-day event.

The festival is supported by a strong community network, reflecting its deep roots in the Aurora community and its mission to celebrate music as a universal language that brings people together.
