The Fresh Coast Jazz Festival returns to Milwaukee for its seventh consecutive year in 2026, establishing itself as the city's premier venue for contemporary jazz. The 2026 Lineup

The festival opens Thursday with The Pairing, an intimate wine-and-music experience pairing live George Benson tributes by Christopher's Project with fine wines and gourmet charcuterie. Friday's main stage brings Spyro Gyra, a thirteen-time Grammy-nominated band that pioneered smooth jazz fusion over more than 50 years and released over 30 albums globally. The same evening features rising stars Eric Essix (jazz and blues guitarist), Kandace Springs (contemporary jazz vocalist and pianist), and Jarrod Lawson (keyboardist and vocalist channeling Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway influences). Saturday adds Marqueal Jordan (saxophonist and vocalist known for bold energy), Milwaukee's local Hometown All-Stars, and Grammy-nominated headliner Jonathan Butler (South African-born guitarist with 25 albums and a reputation for electric, passion-filled performances).

Beyond the Main Stage

The festival distinguishes itself through curated experiences. The Fresh Coast Cruise, held Saturday afternoon aboard the Edelweiss Harbor Lady, sets performers on Milwaukee's waterfront for live jazz with lunch and lake views—a consistently sold-out experience limited to 125 seats. Artist Q&A sessions held at the Hyatt Place Downtown Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday offer attendees rare direct conversation with performers. The festival extends into the night with The Night Cap, an after-hours jam session featuring cocktails, snacks, and surprise artist appearances.

Festival Philosophy

With limited-capacity events (150 seats at The Pairing, 125 on the cruise), the festival prioritizes intimate, high-quality experiences over mass attendance. Festival proceeds support educational and healthcare initiatives: college scholarships, area school music program grants, youth music camp attendance, and benefit concerts for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
