Glide Sasquatch Festival: Where Cryptid Folklore Meets Community Celebration
In a small rural Oregon town, a unique festival has emerged that celebrates both a legendary creature and real-world community resilience. The Glide Sasquatch Festival, held annually on a Saturday in June at 20940 HWY 138 in Glide, Oregon, draws thousands to explore Bigfoot lore while supporting local economic recovery. The festival is hosted by Glide Revitalization, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding the community following the devastation of the Archie Creek Fire.
The Festival's Rapid Growth
Launching in 2022, the inaugural Glide Sasquatch Festival drew over 2,500 attendees. By 2023 and 2024, annual attendance had swelled to more than 4,000 visitors, a testament to both the novelty of the event and its effectiveness as a community gathering space. The 2026 edition marks continued expansion, with plans for enhanced live music programming, expanded food truck vendors, increased vendor participation, additional carnival games, and raffle prizes.
A Multi-Day Experience
The 2026 festival begins Friday, June 19 with a catered dinner, followed by the main festival day on Saturday, June 20 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The extended format gives attendees flexibility to participate across the weekend while supporting local business visibility and community economic development.
Entertainment & Activities
Beyond live music performances, the festival features Sasquatch/Bigfoot expert panels and speakers, including opportunities for individuals with personal Sasquatch encounter experiences to share their stories. Attendees can enjoy over 80 vendors offering crafts, merchandise, and goods; food trucks serving diverse cuisine options; bounce houses and mechanical bull rides for all ages; face painting; and multiple raffle opportunities throughout the day.
Community Purpose & Significance
The festival represents a deliberate commitment to economic revitalization. According to Glide Revitalization's mission statement, the organization focuses on "promoting economic growth, beautification, recreation, and education, while building strength and resiliency in our residents through community outreach, program development, and enrichment activities." The Sasquatch Festival directly supports this mission by providing a platform for local businesses to gain visibility, attract customers, and participate in a high-visibility community event. Since the Archie Creek Fire, Glide Revitalization has distributed over $1.5 million in financial assistance to fire survivors, making community-building events like this festival essential to the region's recovery.
