# MixinMEup

> MixinMEup is an online community for live music — connecting fans with the festivals, events, artists, bands, venues, and industry professionals they love. Festivals are the heart of the platform: discover them, follow them, share experiences, and plan a visit.

On MixinMEup a *User* is an account (authentication only) and a *Profile* is the public identity that posts, follows, and appears across the site. There are ten profile types: Personal, Artist, Band, Venue, Festival, Genre, City, Service Provider, Sponsor, and Parent Organization. The links below are the public pages that need no login.

**Content is geolocated.** The site resolves a browsing location for each visitor and tailors what it surfaces — nearby festivals, events, venues, and people — to that place. The location is chosen in priority order: an explicit location the visitor selects, then a signed-in user's home city, then a saved location cookie, and finally a best-effort estimate of the visitor's city from their IP address. Because of this, the same URL (the homepage especially) can return different, location-specific content for different visitors, and the visitor can change their browsing location at any time.
