Classical Tahoe: A Four-Week Celebration of World-Class Music

Every summer, Classical Tahoe transforms the shoreline of Lake Tahoe into one of the West's premier classical music destinations. The Classical Tahoe Music Festival & Institute returns for its 15th season in 2026, presenting four weeks of orchestral, jazz, chamber music, and educational performances from July 11 through August 9. The festival draws America's leading classical musicians to perform in an outdoor pavilion setting that combines exceptional musicianship with the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe.

Festival Highlights & Programs

The 2026 season opens with a summer gala on July 11, featuring special programming alongside the official launch of the festival's diverse offerings. The core program divides into three major pillars: orchestral concerts, the celebrated Brubeck Jazz Summit, and chamber music series.

The orchestral program features guest conductor Eric Jacobsen as principal guest conductor, alongside conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya. Soloist performances showcase internationally recognized musicians including Orli Shaham (piano), Francesca Dego (violin), Daniel Gilbert (clarinet), Sharleen Joynt (soprano), and Érik Gratton (flute). Orchestral programs span July 19 through August 9, with themed concerts exploring classical foundations, contemporary works, and the festival finale.

The Brubeck Jazz Summit (July 12-17) honors the legacy of jazz composer Dave Brubeck, presenting performances by the Brubeck family musicians and internationally acclaimed jazz artists. Artistic directors Roxy Coss and Lucas Pino lead this intimate immersion into jazz composition and performance.

Educational & Community Access

Classical Tahoe prioritizes accessibility through multiple community programs. The Classical Tahoe Academy develops emerging young musicians through intensive study with festival performers. The Family Concert & Music Makers Faire invites local children and student musicians to perform alongside orchestral musicians. Chamber Connections offers free concerts, while Music, Movement & Literature and Musikgarten programs extend classical music education to younger audiences.

Festival Experience

The outdoor Ricardi Pavilion setting creates an intimate connection between performers and audience, with Lake Tahoe's mountains and forests as a backdrop. Subscribers gain early seat access and exclusive subscriber-only events. The festival also broadcasts select performances through PBS Reno, extending its reach beyond the live season.
