Des Moines Arts Festival stands as Iowa's largest arts and cultural celebration, attracting more than 150,000-200,000 visitors annually. The festival has earned recognition as an 11-time winner of the Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Festivals and Events Association, cementing its status as a premier Midwest cultural event.

Held each June in downtown Des Moines' Western Gateway Park, the three-day festival celebrates visual arts, live music, performing arts, and community engagement. The 2026 edition features 197 of the nation's top artists displaying original work across all disciplines, with admission completely free to all visitors.

The musical programming is substantial and professionally curated. The 2026 festival announces Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Letters to Cleo, and Fastball as primary stage headliners. Drew Holcomb, an Emmy Award-winning Americana artist known for songs including "Find Your People," headlines Friday at 8:30 p.m. Saturday features Fastball at 7:00 p.m. followed by Letters to Cleo at 8:30 p.m. Two stages—the Main Stage on the lawn northwest of 12th and Locust, and the Roots Stage in the Des Moines Media Group parking lot—allow simultaneous performances.

Beyond the musical performances, the festival provides 27 food vendors and nearly 30 free interactive arts activities designed for all ages. Programming includes artist demonstrations, emerging artist showcases, and literary art performances.
