Festival L'Outaouais en fête reaches a historic milestone in 2026, celebrating five decades of music, culture and community gathering in the Gatineau region. Founded in 1976 as a Saint-Jean celebration organized by Impératif français, the festival has evolved from a single evening into a full six-day cultural gathering that "does not cease to grow and refuses to age." The 50th anniversary edition (June 19-24) reflects the festival's core mission: fostering pride in the French language, supporting artists working in French across all career stages, and promoting francophone culture to audiences regardless of native-language background.

The 2026 Lineup and Programming Vision

At the center of the festival is a multi-stage music program at Parc des Cèdres in Aylmer, featuring performers spanning rock, pop, rap, country and traditional genres. The 2026 lineup bridges generations with established headliners like Marjo, Kaïn, Ariane Moffatt and Éric Lapointe alongside emerging voices such as Chloé Leclerc, Émile Bourgault, Parazar and Sarahmée. According to the festival's executive producer Janick St-Georges, the 2026 edition was "built with heart and a very clear intention: to please our attendees. Create strong and unifying evenings, while making room for artists we see too rarely in the Outaouais."

Beyond the Main Stage

The festival's commitment extends past music. FestiVie—L'Expérience bateaux-dragons, a dragon boat competition benefiting the Quebec Cancer Foundation, returns on June 20-21, drawing around 400 paddlers and embedding philanthropy into the festival experience. Board chair Wassim Aboutanos emphasized that "OEF enters a new phase of its history" while maintaining "fidelity to its community and francophone culture" and positioning itself "to shine more widely and assert itself as a flagship event in Quebec."

Family programming, workshops, marketplace vendors, and volunteer opportunities create a multi-layered experience beyond headline performances. The festival also prioritizes eco-responsible event practices and accessibility, with the Parc des Cèdres venue welcoming visitors via public transit (STO bus lines 800, 55, 59), Gatineau's 600-kilometer trail network for cyclists and hikers, and on-site parking within a kilometer of the grounds.
