A Memorial Day Weekend Tradition

The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is celebrating over four decades of bringing live music to the heart of Downtown Jacksonville. Taking place May 21–24, 2026, this annual event has become synonymous with quality performances spanning jazz, funk, soul, and contemporary genres. The Festival Experience

The 2026 edition opens Thursday, May 21, with the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition presented by Yamaha at the Florida Theatre, featuring five finalists competing for cash prizes and a chance to perform during the festival weekend. The competition is free to attend and showcases emerging piano talent in the jazz tradition.

Friday through Sunday, the festival shifts to Ford on Bay in Downtown Jacksonville, where the main stage (presented by Publix) hosts headliners and full lineups. Friday, May 22, features Parliament Funkadelic with George Clinton alongside Ghost-Note and Butcher Brown. Saturday spotlights women performers including Andra Day, esperanza spalding, and Sheila E. & The E-Train. Sunday closes the festival with Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Kamasi Washington, Galactic featuring Jelly Joseph, and Moonchild.

Beyond the main stage, the festival operates Jazz in the Plaza at Riverfront Plaza, highlighting local artists all weekend long with performances, food vendors, and an all-ages atmosphere. Musicians can participate in Jazz Jam sessions and Jazz Clinic workshops.
