Held over Labor Day Weekend at Seattle Center on September 5–6, the festival has earned its tagline as "the most surprising weekend in Seattle" by curating an intentionally broad mix of music, visual arts, comedy, food, and performance. What distinguishes Bumbershoot is its refusal to be confined to a single genre or artistic medium—it encompasses everything from punk rock and electronic music to performance art, ballet, wrestling matches, pole dancing, roller skating, food vendors, and fashion showcases.

The music lineup features established acts like Death Cab for Cutie, Turnstile, Japanese Breakfast, Blood Orange, and Chase & Status, alongside emerging artists including Noname (celebrating the 10th anniversary of Telefone), Silvana Estrada, and Sudan Archives, with both Seattle-based talent and international acts represented.
