A Free Summer Solstice Celebration

Make Music Murfreesboro brings music to the streets, parks, and public spaces of Rutherford County on June 21, 2026—the longest day of the year. As part of the international Make Music Day movement, this free, all-day celebration invites "music performed by anyone and free for everyone," welcoming performers and audiences across all genres, skill levels, and backgrounds.

Inclusive Platform for All Musicians

The festival's mission centers on equity and accessibility. Make Music Murfreesboro aims to "provide an equal platform for musicians of all skill levels, interests and walks of life" and to "inspire the next generation of musicians through innovative outreach programming." Whether you're an indie rock band, a bluegrass ensemble, an a cappella group, or a classical musician, there's room at this celebration. Participation extends beyond Murfreesboro residents; the event explicitly invites "music enthusiasts from everywhere" to either perform or attend.

Venues and Performers

The 2026 edition features over 15 artists performing at more than 4 venues across the community. Participating venues include Boro Bourbon & Brews, the Center for the Arts, Dow Street Community Music School, and Hop Springs. The lineup spans established local acts and emerging musicians, including the School of Rock Murfreesboro House Band, Cumberland Keys Piano Academy, and individual performers like Andy Collins, Copper & Lead, Craig Pitman, and many others. Open mic opportunities are also available, keeping the spirit of the festival participatory and accessible.
