A Quarter-Century of Blues and Jazz in Port Credit

The Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle has become a defining cultural fixture in Mississauga's Port Credit neighbourhood. Now in its 28th iteration, the festival draws thousands of attendees for a three-day outdoor celebration at Port Credit Memorial Park on the shores of Lake Ontario. Founded by Chuck Jackson and colleagues, the festival has grown into an award-winning non-profit showcase that attracts artists from across Canada and beyond.

The Festival Experience

The Southside Shuffle operates across four stages throughout the park, creating multiple concurrent performance spaces. The centrepiece is the Visit Mississauga Main Stage for ticketed performances, with three additional free stages. The event is particularly known for its "LIUNA Local 183 Street Shuffle," a free Saturday afternoon street party held in the village from 1 to 5 P.M. featuring over 20 local acts. Lineup artists include blues and jazz performers such as Kim Mitchell, Blackberry Smoke, Crystal Shawanda, Cameo, Suzie Vinnick, and international acts on the World Stage including TUBA4 and Loco Zydeco.

Accessibility and Practical Details

The festival prioritizes inclusive access with designated disabled parking, disabled washrooms throughout the park, and pre-arranged golf cart rides for those with mobility challenges (via 416-770-4374). St. John Ambulance paramedics staff a tent by the Port Credit Arena entrance for medical assistance. A designated quiet zone behind the Tim Hortons Coffee Truck offers respite with picnic benches.

Parking options include free underground parking accessible off Port Street south of Lakeshore Road, municipal lots south of Lakeshore, and disabled parking in library and arena lots. Public transit includes the Go Train station adjacent to the park with weekend passes at $15, and MiWay buses serving the area.

The festival maintains strict park rules: no outside alcohol, no smoking or vaping, no fireworks, no bikes or skateboards. Children 12 and under are admitted free to General Admission areas when accompanied by an adult. Service animals are welcome with proper identification. The Vendor Village in the south end of the park offers varied food options, and fresh water is available throughout the grounds. All ticket sales are final with no refunds.
