The Spokane Fall Folk Festival represents over three decades of commitment to celebrating cultural diversity through folk music, dance, and traditional performance arts. Organized by the Spokane Folklore Society, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the festival has grown into a significant regional cultural event held annually in mid-November.

The 2026 edition marks the 31st Annual Fall Folk Festival, held at Spokane Community College's The Lair venue. The two-day event features extensive programming across six performance stages with performances spanning multiple musical traditions and dance styles from around the world. Notable genres represented include Celtic music, bluegrass, world music, folk, African, Asian, Hawaiian, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Philippine traditions.

Programming includes live band performances, contra dancing with dedicated callers and bands, participatory dance instruction (English country dance, Argentine tango, belly dance), solo and group singing, children's crafts and entertainment, music workshops, spoken word performance, and cultural demonstrations. The festival also features Spokane Taiko (Japanese drumming), Bulgarian dance traditions, Irish step dancing, Filipino cultural performances, and numerous regional and local performers.

Programming reflects the festival's deep commitment to folk dance preservation and participatory cultural experiences. The contra dance programming is particularly extensive, with dedicated caller workshops and multiple bands specializing in traditional contra dance music. Beyond the festival weekend, the Spokane Folklore Society maintains comprehensive performer referral networks across categories including musicians, dancers, teachers, and entertainment providers, serving the broader Spokane folk arts community.

The festival is recognized as a cornerstone cultural event, having received reader-voted recognition for Best Cultural Event. With approximately 6,000 attendees annually, it draws performers and audiences from the Spokane region, Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The event features over 100 performing groups representing diverse cultural and musical traditions, making it one of the region's most comprehensive celebrations of world music and dance.
